Children’s Ministry

The children's ministry began using the Orange curriculum this year. When the children are dismissed for "kid’s church" we start with a fun, story-based video centering around biblical stories, focusing on the need for a relationship with Jesus and how we can do that. Next, a game or two reflecting and reinforcing the topic; and usually finishing up with a craft and snack. This group ranges in age between 4 & 8 yrs.

PWA

The women of our congregation meet on the first Tuesday morning of each month, September through June, for fellowship, devotions, and event planning. Through fundraising and special events, we support local and global causes. Meetings often include a guest speaker and time for coffee or lunch together.

Our Presbyterian Women’s Association (PWA) hosts several annual events, including a Pancake Lunch on Shrove Tuesday, a Fall and Christmas Sale with crafts and baking, and an Advent worship service written and led by members. We also provide receptions for grieving families following memorial services.

The PWA is a welcoming, active group of over 20 women who find joy in serving God and the St. Andrew’s Nanaimo community.

Mission Moment

After contracting polio when she was young, Akelwela Adanladi was left with physical disabilities. As subsistence farmers, her parents could not afford to send her to school. Her life changed at 30 when she was identified by the Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR) program of the Presbyterian Church in Ghana. Through the CBR program, she obtained a cloth weaving apprenticeship and access to start-up capital for her business. Now a trainer, Akelwela empowers young people through skills training. “I am able to generate enough money to meet my needs and I am so grateful to the CBR program for coming to my aid. Today, I have a beautiful life.”
